7.5-inch gauge is not actually a scale, but rather
refers to the distance between the rails. This is the most popular
gauge for building large-scale outdoor railroads in which the trains
are large enough for people to ride on them.
The 7.5-inch gauge outdoor railroad at the BSME is
owned and operated by Dale Bearden and is being built by Dale, with
the assistance of other BSME members. The railroad is located on the
grounds of the adjacent Alger Community Church. Construction began
in the winter of 2007.
