For the HO-layout, members are framing the layout using a modified
L-girder structure previously used on portions of the club's previous HO
layout at 111 Grand Avenue.
The distinctive wooden trestle that had become such an identifying
feature of the previous layout was salvaged when that layout was
demolished, and will become a central focus of the new layout. Portions of
the new layout had to be planned around the trestle, which will now be
part of a logging branch line rather than the mainline.
Portions
of the layout will run through holes in the walls, enabling complete
separation of scenic elements. The new layout will also have a large
staging yard, hidden from the view of visitors, where club members can
prepare trains before sending them out onto the mainline.
