HO-scale is the most popular scale of model railway
in most of the world, and the Bellingham Society of Model Engineer's
HO-scale layout is the largest of the club's layouts. The name HO is
derived from the fact that its 1:87 scale is approximately half that
of O-scale (which was once the most popular scale).
The BSME's first layout was an HO-scale layout.
Today, the club operates layouts in several scales, and members
choose to have their club dues directed to either the HO- or N-scale
division. Construction began on the current layout in April 2004,
shortly after the BSME moved into its current location at 1469
Silver Run Lane in Alger, WA.
