People have asked why there haven't been any new construction photos
since May. The fact is, once the benchwork was built and the track laid,
the changes became much less dramatic. Laying all of that N-scale track
and creating scenery goes much slower than the heavy construction involved
in building the underlying framework.
Paul Petrzelka installs one of the Digitrax radio
receivers. Like the HO layout, the N-scale layout uses Digitrax DCC and
most club members will operate using radio throttles. Henry Ellett
installs one of dozens of turnouts in the main classification yard on the
lower level of the double-deck layout.
Since the N-scale layout never really reached the scenery
stage at the BSME's previous home, members must also build all the
structures that will help bring the new layout to life. One of the major
industries on the new layout will be a large steel mill. Member Gregg
Dunphy watches as his train rolls past this large structure on the upper
level of the layout.
