Membership

Membership in the Bellingham Society of Model Engineers (BSME) is open to anyone with an interest in model railroading, without regard to race, age, gender, color, or national or ethnic origin. Members pay an initiation fee and monthly dues. All fees are used to purchase materials and maintain the layout and other club facilities. Dues are tax-deductible.

The BSME is open every Thursday evening from approximately 7:00pm to 11:00pm at which time members and guests work on various projects constructing or maintaining the layout. Members also conduct operating sessions during which time trains are run in a prototypical manner. During operating sessions, one individual serves as a dispatcher, controlling the movement of trains. Others take on the roles of engineer, conductor, etc. Trains are run according to a printed time schedule or written train orders. Movement of freight is based on "car cards."

Business meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 8:00pm.
